About the Team

The B Impact Platform team is one of three teams within Product & Platform Engineering, responsible for building and maintaining the core assessment and impact tools used by companies and partners globally, including the B Impact Assessment and B Lab's global website. A Tech Lead leads the team and works closely with the department's shared Architecture function — the Solution Architect and Software Architect — to ensure technical standards and platform coherence across Product & Platform Engineering. The B Impact Platform is central to B Lab's mission: it's the primary tool through which companies measure their social and environmental performance and pursue B Corp Certification. Given its scale and importance to the certification process, the team places a strong emphasis on quality, reliability, and accuracy across every release.

About the Opportunity

As Quality Assurance Engineer on the B Impact Platform team, you will help ensure the reliability, accuracy, and quality of the tools that companies worldwide rely on to measure their impact and pursue B Corp Certification. You will design and execute both manual and automated tests, with a strong focus on end-to-end automated testing using Playwright, working closely with engineers and the Tech Lead throughout the development lifecycle to catch issues early and maintain high release standards. This role is well suited to someone who takes pride in thorough, methodical testing and who wants their work to directly protect the integrity of a platform used across a global network of companies and partners.

Core Responsibilities 

Test Automation [40%]

• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end automated test suites using Playwright, covering critical user flows across the B Impact Platform
• Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to support fast, reliable releases
• Continuously expand and refine test coverage as new features are developed, prioritizing the areas of highest risk and business impact
• Maintain and troubleshoot the test automation framework, keeping it stable and easy for other engineers to contribute to

Manual Testing & Quality Assurance [30%]

• Design and execute manual test plans and test cases for new features, particularly in areas where automation isn't yet in place or where nuanced judgment is required
• Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases and issues that scripted tests may miss
• Verify bug fixes and validate that resolved issues meet acceptance criteria before release

Planning & Collaboration [20%]

• Collaborate with engineers and the Tech Lead throughout the development lifecycle, reviewing user stories and acceptance criteria to identify testing needs early
• Participate in sprint planning, story grooming, and retrospectives, providing a quality-focused perspective
• Document test plans, test cases, and known issues clearly to support knowledge transfer and team-wide visibility into quality status

Process Improvement [10%]

• Identify gaps in current testing practices and recommend improvements to tools, coverage, or process
• Stay current with QA and test automation best practices, bringing new techniques and tools to the team as relevant

 

Major Objectives/Project for the role in the first 6-12 months

First 3 Months

• Your role is clear
• You are familiar with your immediate team
• You have learned some of the basic aspects of the business and our products
• You are getting familiar with the B Impact Platform, including current test coverage, known gaps, and existing Playwright automation
• You and your manager have a regular 1:1 meeting scheduled
• You feel comfortable asking questions or asking for help
• You've begun contributing to manual testing and small automated test cases with support
• You've participated in code/test reviews

First 6 Months

• You are independently writing and maintaining automated Playwright tests for new features
• You and your manager have met regularly several times
• You're still learning about B Lab, connecting more dots
• You are an active participant in story grooming, flagging testing considerations early
• You've identified at least one meaningful gap in test coverage and begun addressing it

First 12 Months

• You feel comfortable contributing at your skill level across both manual and automated testing
• You continue to regularly meet with your manager
• You continue to be an active participant in story grooming and planning
• You've taken ownership of a significant portion of the platform's end-to-end test coverage, and are seen as a go-to resource for quality on the team

 

About You

• A BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience in quality assurance or software testing roles 
• Hands-on experience with Playwright for end-to-end automated testing 
• Proven experience with end-to-end automated testing, including designing and maintaining automated test suites 
• Strong experience with manual testing, including writing test plans, test cases, and performing exploratory testing
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into the deployment process
• Understanding of web application architecture, APIs, and how to test them effectively
• Experience with bug tracking and test management tools
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to identifying and documenting issues
• Ability to balance thoroughness with pragmatism, prioritizing testing effort based on risk and business impact 
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and explain issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working closely with engineers throughout the development lifecycle, not just at the end of it
• Fluent in English

While not required these skills and experiences would be great to have:

• Experience testing assessment, survey, or scoring-based platforms
• Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows
• Experience with performance or accessibility testing

Compensation Details

B Lab has a compensation plan that includes:

• An annual range of R$122,100 - R$146,300 (not inclusive of the 13th salary)
• Sick & other leave in accordance with Brazilian statutory leave allowance
• Company provided laptop
