Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical supervision and maintenance of our OSV vessels, ensuring the fleet operates safely, reliably, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable Class, statutory, and company requirements.

The role will supervise vessel maintenance, repairs, technical budgets, dry-docking, vessel inspections, technical documentation and the effective use of the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS). The Technical Superintendent will also work closely with vessel Chief Engineers, internal departments, classification societies, shipyards and other technical partners to maintain high vessel availability and minimise operational disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical performance and maintenance of assigned vessels, covering routine OPEX maintenance and planned CAPEX activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company QHSE requirements onboard assigned vessels.
  • Manage vessel OPEX/CAPEX budgets, ensuring cost discipline and optimization of vessel technical availability.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs and technical interventions to ensure timely completion and minimize vessel off-hire.
  • Validate requisitions and purchase orders for vessel parts, services, spares and consumables, ensuring timely availability onboard.
  • Liaise with Classification Societies on surveys, certificates, class status and related technical requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate Task Assistant/CMMS records and ensure effective use of the system across assigned vessels.
  • Coordinate technical inspections, including Vessel Technical Inspections (VTI) and electrical surveys.
  • Prepare vessels for dry-docking and ensure completion within the approved dry-docking window.
  • Prepare and submit technical reports on maintenance activities, vessel breakdowns and technical interventions.
  • Support vessel take-over, handover and transfer activities, including inventory and required documentation.
  • Monitor routine lube oil analysis and ensure timely reporting.
  • Carry out other activities as may be assigned by Technical Manager.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marine Engineering and/or equivalent Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 1 (Chief Engineer).
  • Strong sailing background as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer, ideally aboard OSVs and PSVs.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of proven experience as a shore-based Technical Superintendent managing a multi-vessel fleet.
  • High proficiency in using CMMS/maintenance management systems, managing complex shipyard work scopes and technical reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience managing vessel maintenance, repairs, dry-docking and technical operations.
  • Experience managing vessel OPEX/CAPEX budgets and technical procurement.
  • Experience interfacing with Classification Societies, shipyards and other technical service providers.
  • Experience supervising and developing Chief Engineers and/or other vessel technical personnel.
