Job Description

Working closely with students, the Student Engagement Officer plays a key role in providing operational support and student engagement activities to assist students experiencing accommodation and cost of living challenges.

The role contributes to the delivery of support programs, develops and maintains information resources, coordinates student communications and events, and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure students can navigate accommodation and cost of living challenges.

About you

To succeed in this role you are passionate about student wellbeing, highly organised, culturally capable, and confident working directly with students experiencing financial and accommodation pressures.

 Essential skills and experience

  • Experience in student support, advisory services in a student services, welfare, community, not-for-profit, social services or higher education environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with people from diverse cultural, linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience developing web content, digital communications, promotional materials or student-facing resources.
  • Experience planning, coordinating and delivering events, workshops, campaigns or engagement activities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and building productive partnerships.
  • Sound digital literacy and confidence using web content management systems, student systems, Microsoft 365 and digital communication tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism, discretion and compassion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate referral pathways for students requiring additional support.

What we can offer

This is a fixed-term (12 months) full time position, based primarily at Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.

Salary Range

Base Salary Hew 5 in the range of $82,415  - $92,456 per annum plus 17% Superannuation. The salary including superannuation is in the range $96,426 -$108,174 per annum.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
