Job Description

Position Summary

The SAM Discovery, Inventory, Tools & Automation Analyst is responsible for the technical foundation that supports Mattel's Software Asset Management program. The role brings together software discovery, inventory, platform administration, data quality, integrations, reporting and automation so the SAM team can work from reliable information and spend less time on manual data collection and reconciliation.

This is a hands-on role with broad ownership across Flexera One, Flexera One SaaS Manager, ServiceNow and Nexthink. The analyst will work closely with SAM license analysts, Product Owners, infrastructure, security, ServiceNow teams and other partners to improve visibility across the software estate and turn that visibility into useful operational and financial insight.

Key Responsibilities

Discovery, Inventory & Data Quality

  • Own day-to-day software discovery and inventory processes and improve coverage across endpoints, servers, SaaS and other in-scope technology environments.
  • Monitor discovery feeds, inventory sources and normalization results; investigate gaps, duplicate records, stale data and reconciliation issues.
  • Work with infrastructure, endpoint, cloud and application teams to resolve data gaps and improve the quality and completeness of software inventory.
  • Maintain the data foundation used for Effective License Positions (ELPs), compliance reviews, optimization, reporting and audit support.
  • Develop practical controls and health checks that make data-quality issues visible before they affect SAM analysis or business decisions.

SAM Tools & Platform Ownership

  • Administer and support Flexera One and Flexera One SaaS Manager, including platform configuration, data feeds, connectors, reporting and operational troubleshooting.
  • Support ServiceNow workflows and integrations used by SAM, including software request, governance, reporting and future ELP automation processes.
  • Use Nexthink data and capabilities to improve software usage visibility, optimization campaigns and user engagement where appropriate.
  • Monitor integrations and custom connectors, coordinate issue resolution, and maintain clear ownership of technical dependencies.
  • Partner with platform and support teams on upgrades, changes and enhancements that affect SAM data or workflows.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify repetitive manual work and build or coordinate automation that improves speed, consistency and data quality.
  • Support automation of recurring SAM activities, including data collection, reporting, ELP preparation, license harvesting and workflow routing.
  • Help move SAM processes away from email and spreadsheet-based execution toward repeatable workflows and trusted system data.
  • Maintain technical documentation, support procedures and knowledge articles for the tools and integrations owned by the role.
  • Measure the impact of automation and recommend improvements based on operational results rather than assumptions.

Reporting, Analytics & Publisher Support

  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards that provide clear visibility into software inventory, usage, compliance, optimization and data quality.
  • Provide reliable data to support license analysis and ELP activities for major publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, VMware, Autodesk, Okta, and other strategic publishers.
  • Support SaaS visibility and optimization for publishers and platforms such as Salesforce, Anaplan, Smartsheet, Zoom and other SaaS services as coverage expands.
  • Work with license analysts to validate source data before it is used for compliance, renewal, audit or optimization decisions.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting needs while working toward more standardized and repeatable reporting capabilities.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work closely with SAM license analysts, Product Owners, Procurement, Infrastructure, Security, GRC, ServiceNow teams and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in transition, knowledge-transfer and shadowing activities as SAM responsibilities move from HCL to MTIC.
  • Raise data, integration or platform risks early and communicate clearly when dependencies may affect delivery.
  • Help establish a global, scalable SAM operating model by creating repeatable technical processes rather than relying on tribal knowledge.

Key Platforms & Technology

  • Flexera One
  • Flexera One SaaS Manager
  • ServiceNow
  • Nexthink
  • Enterprise discovery and inventory data sources
  • APIs, data feeds, connectors and reporting tools supporting SAM

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, discovery/inventory, enterprise tooling, systems integration, or a related technical operations role.
  • Hands-on experience administering or supporting Flexera, ServiceNow, Nexthink, or comparable enterprise asset and software-management platforms.
  • Working knowledge of software discovery, inventory, normalization, entitlements, usage data and license reconciliation concepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting data feeds, integrations, connectors or API-based integrations.
  • Experience building operational reports, dashboards or data-quality controls.
  • Ability to work across technical and business teams and explain data or platform issues in clear terms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Flexera One and/or Flexera One SaaS Manager in a large enterprise environment.
  • Experience supporting software licensing data for major enterprise publishers, including Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle or other complex publishers.
  • Experience with SaaS management, software usage optimization, license harvesting or compliance reporting.
  • Experience improving manual processes through workflow or reporting automation.
  • Familiarity with software governance, audit support, ELP processes and enterprise software request workflows.
  • Experience working in a global organization with distributed technical and business teams.

What Success Looks Like

  • SAM has reliable, current discovery and inventory data that analysts and stakeholders trust.
  • Flexera One, Flexera One SaaS Manager and related integrations are stable, monitored and supported with clear ownership.
  • Data gaps are identified early and resolved before they affect ELP, compliance, renewal or optimization decisions.
  • Manual effort is reduced over time through practical automation and better workflows.
  • Reporting becomes faster, more repeatable and less dependent on one-off data collection.
  • SAM has broader visibility across the software estate and can use that information to support compliance, optimization and business decisions.
  • Technical knowledge is documented and transferable so the organization is not dependent on a single individual.

Working Style

The role requires someone who is comfortable owning technical details while keeping the broader SAM objective in view. Strong ownership, curiosity, clear communication, follow-through and a practical continuous-improvement mindset are important to success.
