Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the Impact Benefits Agreement (IBA) and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Ontario communities. Position Reports To: Senior U/G Geologist
Position Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and hard-working individual to join our team as a Geological Technician in a full-time capacity. The Geological Technician will support the Geology team with a variety of tasks, including sampling, preparation work, diamond drilling support, and other geology-related activities. All work must be completed in accordance with company policies and procedures, including cultural, safety, and environmental requirements.
No prior experience is required, as the successful applicant will receive on-the-job training to develop the skills and knowledge required for the role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attendance, a positive attitude, a commitment to working safely, and a willingness to learn.
Preference will be given to local residents of the Rainy River District. Please note that travel and accommodations are not provided for this role.
Duties And Responsibilities
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $65,000.00 to $75,000.00

Duties And Responsibilities
- Collect and prepare diamond drillhole samples.
- Complete accurate data entry.
- Deliver samples to the assay lab.
- Conduct geotechnical logging of core.
- Collect samples as required.
- Perform assay lab preparation area work as required.
- Move core and perform general labour activities as required.
- Support a variety of other geology-related tasks as assigned.
- Ability to follow proper sampling techniques.
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting.
- Ability to properly label samples.
- Demonstrated commitment to following safety procedures.
- Ability to read and understand instructions and signage.
- Ability to understand and follow safe operating practices.
- Ability to think and act decisively.
- Willingness to move diamond drillhole core and complete other general labour activities as required.
- Availability to work day-shift rotations in indoor, outdoor, and variable weather conditions.
- Work is performed in dusty and noisy environments.
- The role requires day-shift rotational work in indoor, outdoor, and variable weather conditions.
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $65,000.00 to $75,000.00
