WHAT'S THE JOB?
As a General Helper, you are critical to the success of the culinary team. In a kitchen support role, the General Helper works a variety of shifts throughout the day and acts as the fuel that keeps the kitchen running smoothly.
The position offers a remote camp lifestyle with the following amenities:
- All meals and accommodations are provided
- Travel is provided to and from the site locations from designated locations in Winnipeg, Thompson, Flin Flon and The Pas.
- Private room with cable television
- Wi-Fi
- Laundry facilities and detergents
- Gym and common areas
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining a clean and organized workstation throughout your shift, including lunchrooms, dining rooms, serveries, dish wash areas, main kitchens and storage areas
- Regular sweeping and mopping of all floors, including walk-in coolers and storage areas
- Stocking of all needed food, beverage, and paper/disposable supplies
- Disposing of all garbage, cardboard and recyclables as required
- Correctly labelling, dating and rotating all products prepared for service
- Assisting in food production as required
- Receiving and storing supplies (food, beverages, chemicals, and paper/disposable products)
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Experience in large-scale food service operations, including camp settings, banquet halls, and/or hotels, is considered a strong asset.
- Current Food Safe certification or willing to obtain prior to employment
- Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check
- Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to commit to a 2 week on/1 week off rotation or similar schedule
- A team player who is committed to delivering excellent client service
- Must possess valid government-issued photo identification for travel to site
- Ability to handle the following physical demands:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs
- Climb ladders or stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
- Perform work with arms at full length
- Work with arms above shoulder height

Work schedule and remuneration:
General Helpers work on a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on and 1 week off. Site locations are in remote settings and require travel by air or ground transportation via company shuttle. You may be required to work days, nights, weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis and may equate to up to $1,445 per week, depending on hours worked.
