Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering, you will be part of the Mine Engineering Department and collaborate closely with other departments of the division. You will be responsible for assembling the key deliverables tied to long-term mine planning and supporting a well-integrated flow of collaboration across stakeholders engaged in the Reserves & Resources process, mine design, and economic evaluations. You will serve as the Qualified Person (QP) for the Reserves & Resources process at Hope Bay, acting as the technical authority for the Engineering department.
Your role also involves leading and supporting the development of the Life-of-Mine (LOM) plan by integrating mine designs, production schedules, and critical engineering and operational parameters and constraints. You will also collaborate closely with the site Engineering team to maintain alignment and ensure the plan and vision are clearly communicated and effectively implemented at the operations level. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

- Coordinate the preparation of the annual Life-of-Mine (LOM) and lead scenario planning exercises to evaluate strategic plans for my development;
- Oversee the semi-annual Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves (MRMR) updates while fulfilling responsibilities as the Engineering QP;
- Lead the Mine Stope Optimization (MSO) process, incorporating cut-off grade calculations, mining cost evaluations, and design parameter reviews to maximize project value;
- Contribute to long-range planning initiatives, including the annual budget process, Enhanced Life-of-Mine (ELOM) scenarios and Resources & Reserves renewal strategies;
- Present planning deliverables to internal stakeholders and key decision-makers;
- Provide support to the Permitting team on expansion projects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with long-term operational objectives;
- Regularly review and update mine design parameters, financial assumptions, and other key components of long-range planning;
- Establish planning standards based on best practices, aligned with other sites, and lead the adoption of new planning techniques and technologies;
- Coordinate with site-based supervisors and planners to align on the mine plan and priorities;
- Supervise and coordinate the work of technicians and engineers under their direct supervision;
- Lead HR-related activities including annual evaluations and development plans and participate in the recruitment process.
- Bachelor's degree in mining engineering;
- 10+ years of experience in mining operations with a focus on production and planning;
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership role (e.g., supervisor or team leader);
- Member of a Canadian engineering association and eligible for NAPEG membership;
- Experience in project start-up and operational readiness an asset;
- Proven ability to work at an advanced level in Deswik;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Schedule: South-based, 5/2 schedule working Monday to Friday;
- Location: Home office or AEM office.
