Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the Impact Benefits Agreement (IBA) and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Ontario communities. Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Geotechnical Technician provides field-based support to the geotechnical team through inspection, monitoring, instrumentation maintenance, data collection, and general support of safe and effective ground control practices at the mine site.
Duties And Responsibilities
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $65,000 to $70,000.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Geotechnical Technician provides field-based support to the geotechnical team through inspection, monitoring, instrumentation maintenance, data collection, and general support of safe and effective ground control practices at the mine site.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable mining regulations and follow company safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work.
- Monitor and maintain geotechnical instrumentation, including settlement plates, slope inclinometers, piezometers, extensometers, and related equipment.
- Complete instrumentation surveys for settlement plates, monitoring pins, slope inclinometers, and other monitoring systems.
- Install prisms and monitoring pins as required.
- Support maintenance of the radar monitoring system.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards in assigned work areas.
- Assist and support the geotechnical team with other related duties as required.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to switch tasks quickly and efficiently based on team and operational requirements.
- Experience working around heavy equipment is considered an asset.
- Computer experience is preferred.
- Field-based work in an active mining environment.
- Driving in congested, high-traffic mining and construction areas.
- Walking in congested or remote site areas where uneven footing is common.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of gear, typically less than 20 kg.
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $65,000 to $70,000.
